Sarah Iles Johnston elected president of American Society for the Study of Religion

Sarah Iles Johnston, Arts and Humanities Distinguished Professor of Religion and professor of classics, has been elected president of the American Society for the Study of Religion. Her term will run for three years. The ASSR, founded in 1959, is a society of elected members whose purpose is to promote and advance the scholarly study of religion in its various forms, with particular emphasis on comparative approaches.
