Religious Accommodations In the Workplace Workshop
This October, the Center for the Study of Religion hosted a successful daylong workshop on religious accommodations in the workplace, co-organized by Spencer Dew, Charles McCrary, Liz Wilson and CSR director Isaac Weiner,
The event was attended by HR and DEI professionals, chairs of religion-oriented employee resource groups, academic scholars of religion and consultants with expertise in navigating issues related to religious diversity. Attendants were from Miami University, Eckerd College, University of Cincinnati, Intel, Express, Paycor, Upper Arlington Schools, ESC of Central Ohio, the Tanenbaum Center for Inter-Religious Understanding and The Ohio State University.
Participants discussed the workplace challenges faced by employees adhering to minority religions, and ways companies can address these challenges for better accommodation.
This is the first of what CSR hopes will be an ongoing initiative dedicated to religious accommodations in the workplace. Stay tuned for information on this evolving initiative and ways it will be offered to the public in the future.
