Huntington, "Seeing the Divine: Understanding Hinduism Through Art" Professor Susan Huntington (OSU Department of History of Art) will present the second lecture in the Center for the Study of Religion's series "Religions of the World: Past and Present".  In some religions, the teachings are best understood through written texts alone. But one of the most fundamental practices of Hinduism involves darshan, or seeing the divine. As portrayals of the divine, Hindu art, therefore, plays a vital role in the daily life of devotees. This talk explores Hindu art from ancient times to the present, emphasizing how these visualizations are an integral part, and not simply an accessory, of religious practice. **Reception to follow - admission free and open to the public**-parking can be found in the garages north and south of the Ohio Union.
